Presentations of Learning (POLs) and Final Weeks of the Semester

Greetings DVD Families,

Welcome back! We hope you had a safe and restful break! We are three weeks away from the end of the first semester.

POLs begin next Thursday. See below for more information on grade level POLs and final opportunities to demonstrate mastery. In addition, all students will participate in an End-of-Semester Survey. This survey data will be read and analyzed by teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to reflect on and inform planning for students in the future. We welcome and are grateful for honest feedback.

This workshop contains the same information as the previous one hosted last month, but please feel free to attend if you need clarification or a refresher. In this workshop, we will provide a step-by-step explanation of the federal student financial aid process along with grants, federal loans and scholarships.

There will be one more FAFSA workshop on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 4:30-6:00PM.

Here are some important reminders and resources:

• The FAFSA opened on October 1st and is due March 2nd for CSUs, UCs, and California Community Colleges. The FAFSA deadlines for private and out-of-state universities vary. Please check their respective websites for financial aid deadlines We encourage you to apply early!

• To complete and sign a FAFSA electronically, both the student and the parent need an FSA ID.

• If you are applying to a private college, you many need to complete the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. The CSS Profile is used to assess the student for institutional aid, which may include merit-based aid. Here is a list of colleges that requires the CSS Profile.

• If you are an undocumented student, you may be eligible for the state aid and institutional aid. Please complete the DREAM Act Application to apply for these funds. Please connect with your counselor if you need support with this process.

• If you are or were a foster youth, you may qualify for the CHAFEE Grant. Please connect with your counselor if you need support with this process.

As always, please reach out to your respective counselor if you have any questions.

Student Headphone Distribution this Saturday

Greetings Parents/Guardians:

For those of you who were unable to stop by last week to pick up a headset with microphone for your student(s), we will be having another distribution take place this weekend at our campus on Saturday, November 7th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. No RSVP is necessary.

To best expedite this process, please bring a letter-sized paper with the following information clearly written on it:  Student(s)’ school(s), Student(s)’ grade level, and Student(s)’ last and first name.  The student or parent/guardian will be asked to display that paper to the Da Vinci staff member distributing the headsets to facilitate the distribution. The headsets will be distributed under a canopy which will be set-up in Lane 1 of the parking lot, the lane closest to the gym.

Additional dates and times will be scheduled in the weeks to come in an effort to continue to provide opportunities for pickup as needed. Please feel free to contact the school’s front office if you have any questions about this.  Thank you!
