Staff Appreciation

Dear DVD Students, Parents, and Guardians,

As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, we are all grateful for the tremendous work of our school staff – from our teachers to counselors to paraeducators to custodians to front office staff. To show our appreciation, we are organizing Thanksgiving baskets to deliver to our school staff on Thursday, November 17th. The idea is that each staff member will receive one basket containing treats and words of appreciation from students and parents/guardians.

Here is how you can contribute to the baskets of Thanksgiving:

  1. Items: If you are interested and able to purchase something to show your appreciation, please consider non-perishable items such as: individually wrapped : popcorn, gummies, trail mix, chips, hot chocolate, pretzels, candy, cookies, gift cards ($5) to target, Starbucks, coffee, sparkling water, tea, and any other non-perishable snacks. We need donated items collected by: Monday November 14th. All items can be left on the first-floor front office.

  1. Words of Appreciation: There is nothing that means more to school staff than words of appreciation or encouragement. Please consider handwriting a note of thanks or typing one digitally here: DVD Staff Appreciation Notes We will be printing these digital messages and including all words of appreciation in the baskets. Handwritten notes can be dropped off by Monday November 14th

With gratitude for your ongoing encouragement and support,

FAFSA and CADAA Opt out Form

Hello Design Families,

Accessing financial aid is key to supporting students with continuing their education to achieve their career aspirations. Under a new state law: AB 469, high school seniors will be required to complete and submit either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) or an opt-out form. This requirement begins with the Class of 2023.

Parents/Guardians who elect not to complete the FAFSA or CADAA should complete an opt-out form by March 2, 2023. You can request the opt-out form from your students respective Counselors.

Please contact DVD counselors if you have any questions.

LAX Aviation Career Day – Fill out your permission slip today!

Pick up your field trip slip at your school site front office. Wednesday, November 9th

Are you interested in the aviation industry and want to learn more about it? Don’t miss out on this opportunity to explore various careers within the industry and what you can do to get there!

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is hosting the Annual LAX Aviation Career Day next Wednesday, November 9. This event will bring awareness of careers in the aviation industry as well as specialized curriculums at local colleges. Students can explore aviation career opportunities, speak with, and discuss career paths with more than 30 companies, federal agencies and other airport employers.

Students can pick up a field trip slip from their Office Manager at the school site’s front desk. Spots are limited so we encourage students to turn in their slips no later than Monday, November 7.

Students will be leaving to LAX at 8:30 am and returning at 1 pm.

DVD Alumni Sibling Day

Hello Designers.

We are excited to host Alumni Sibling Day on Friday, November 18th from 9am – 3pm.

We are looking for alumni siblings (or cousins) of our current students to spend the day on the DVD campus before we leave for Thanksgiving break. We understand that our alumni may be in school, working or both so hopefully they can stop by at some point throughout the day.

All alumni will need to check in at the reception desk on the first floor before heading up to the 4th floor.

If you have any questions about this event, please email Miss Pam at pbaker@davincischools.org

Thank you.
