National Portfolio Day

Designers,
It’s time to show off what you’ve been doing for the past few years! National Portfolio Days are annual events typically held in multiple locations across the United States, Canada and Europe.

Visit with counselors, admissions team members, and faculty from art and design schools for a review of your portfolio before applying to colleges or universities.

Meet one on one with professional representatives of accredited colleges and universities and receive valuable feedback and guidance on your portfolio prior to submitting your application. No admission decisions or scholarship awards will be offered at National Portfolio Days. Some college and university representatives may accept your portfolio as the visual portion of your application. Others have restrictions that prohibit them from making a definitive portfolio decision at the time of your review.

If there is a particular school you are hoping to meet with, please visit that school’s website to learn more about the dates they will be available.

FAFSA and CADAA Opt out Form

Hello Design Families,

Accessing financial aid is key to supporting students with continuing their education to achieve their career aspirations. Under a new state law: AB 469, high school seniors will be required to complete and submit either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) or an opt-out form. This requirement begins with the Class of 2023.

Parents/Guardians who elect not to complete the FAFSA or CADAA should complete an opt-out form by March 2, 2023. You can request the opt-out form from your students respective Counselors.

Please contact DVD counselors if you have any questions.

DVD Alumni Sibling Day

Hello Designers.

We are excited to host Alumni Sibling Day on Friday, November 18th from 9am – 3pm.

We are looking for alumni siblings (or cousins) of our current students to spend the day on the DVD campus before we leave for Thanksgiving break. We understand that our alumni may be in school, working or both so hopefully they can stop by at some point throughout the day.

All alumni will need to check in at the reception desk on the first floor before heading up to the 4th floor.

If you have any questions about this event, please email Miss Pam at pbaker@davincischools.org

Thank you.

Cal Grant verification and Opt Out option

Dear Seniors & Parents,

A Cal Grant is money for college you don’t have to pay back. Cal Grants can be used at any University of California, California State University or California Community College, as well as qualifying independent (private) and career colleges or technical schools in California.

To qualify, you must apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) by the deadline of March 2, 2023 and meet the eligibility and financial requirements as well as any minimum GPA requirements. There are three kinds of Cal Grants (A, B and C) but you don’t have to figure out which one to apply for. Your eligibility will be based on your FAFSA or CADAA responses, your verified high school Cal Grant GPA, the type of California colleges you list on your FAFSA and whether you’re a recent high school graduate. To learn more about the qualifications, please visit www.calgrants.org.

Da Vinci Design is required to submit your student’s verified GPA. By law you have the option to “opt out” of this process if you do not want Da Vinci Design to submit your student’s verified GPA. If you choose to “opt out”, this means your student will not be eligible to receive a Cal Grant. In order to “opt-out”, please complete the attached form and return to your Counselor no later than October 3, 2022.

If you do not return the “opt-out” form, Da Vinci Design will submit your student’s verified GPA to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) to determine your student’s Cal Grant eligibility. Click links below to obtain the opt out form in either English or Spanish.

DVD Summer School 2022

DVD Summer School 2022

This summer, Da Vinci Design will offer summer school courses for Da Vinci students. All students with any missing credits (grades of “I/F” in a course, or missing a course due to transferring into DVD) are encouraged to take a course this summer, and some students with multiple incomplete grades are required to take summer school in order to move onto the next grade level.

Summer school forms were distributed to students this week.  Click here for additional information on summer school.  If your student received a summer school form, you must register for summer school.  Click here for the summer school registration form.

All summer school will be held in-person at 201 N. Douglas St. El Segundo, CA 90245
All summer school credit recovery is facilitated by a DVD staff member and offered through EdGenuity curriculum. Summer school will be offered over two sessions. Students will work at their own pace, but must complete courses by the end of each session to receive credit; each course completed will count for one semester of course credit.

If you have any questions, please contact your student’s counselor.

Thank you.
