Greetings DVD Families!

Thank you for attending SLCs this week. It was great seeing all the families on campus! If you did not have the opportunity to complete the Parent Survey this past week, please do so by clicking on the following link: DVD Parent Survey 2019.

Week 9 schedule is posted below, along with the October newsletter from each grade level team and reminders about upcoming events. As a reminder, our staff will be participating in Professional Development this Friday, 10/18, which means there will be NO SCHOOL for students.

Dismissal Times for the week


Hello Designers,

Thank you to all that families that attended SLCs today. We look forward to seeing more families at DVD throughout the week!

As a reminder, students will be dismissed at 1:30 pm Monday – Thursday this week.

DVC students will be dismissed at 1:10 pm and DVS students will be dismissed at 1:15 pm. Please allow DVC/DVS families to be in the front of the pick-up line if you arrive prior to 1:30 pm.

Student Led Conferences – Week 8

Greetings DVD families!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Student Led Conferences (SLCs) next week, which will take place starting on Monday 10/7 through Thursday, 10/10 from 1:45 – 4:00 daily. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 pm – Monday through Thursday.

Sole4Souls Shoe Drive

The DVS Art and Design 1 students are hosting a shoe drive. Gently used shoes (no holes), sneakers, cleats, dress shoes, etc. are being collected through November 1st, and will be donated to Soles4Souls, a company that provides shoes for those in need. See the attached flyer for more information.

Senior Portrait Information and Sign-ups

This year, seniors have the option of taking cap-and-gown portraits during Student-Led Conference time (October 7-10) with our school photographer, Stacee Lianna. The cost for a senior cap-and-gown photo session is $40, which includes the digital copy of the photo.  Senior photo sessions are optional; the school will not be using these photos in any of its publications. Girls Empowerment Conference – Volunteer Opportunity

The LA County Parks and Recreation has invited the young women of DVD to participate in the Girls Empowerment Conference this weekend.

Here are some details:

Date: Saturday, October 5, 2019

Time: 7:00am -3:30pm

Event Location: East LA College

Departure & return will be from Del Aire Park (12601 Isis Ave. Hawthorne, CA). Breakfast, lunch, and transportation provided.

Week 7 Schedule

Hello Designers!

October is just around the corner! Student Led Conferences will be held during Week 8 (October 7-10). Students will be dismissed at 1:30 pm on those days.  Be on the lookout for sign-up links and information sent out by your student’s grade level team. This is an opportunity for students to lead a discussion of their academic progress and goals.

School Pictures Available & Makeup Picture Day

Greetings DVD Families,

Individual student photos are now available for purchase (click on the following link): DVD Student Pictures for Purchase

You can find your student’s photo by clicking on the last name of his/her advisory teacher. After selecting an image, you can pay for the digital download of the image ($21) or printed copies of the image (starting at $10). If you have any questions, please contact Stacee Lianna (DVD Photographer) at

Stacee will be here next Tuesday (10/1) to do makeup photos for any students who missed picture day or for students who’d just like a re-take.
