Cal State LA Early Entrance Program (EEP) Open House

Hello Students and Parents,

The Early Entrance Program at Cal State LA is the only program of its kind in the nation that matriculates qualified students as young as 11 years of age as full-time college students, enabling students to skip their remains years of secondary school and graduate with their baccalaureate degrees within 4 to 5 years.

EEP Admission: Students interested in applying for Fall 2019 must complete two steps:

  1. Complete an EEP Interest Form: www.calstatela.edu/eep/eep-interest-form-and-open-house-rsvp
  2. Take an official SAT or ACT exam, and submit qualifying test scores to the EEP by May 1, 2020. To register for this exam, visit: colereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat, and select “REGISTER.”

Seniors- Susan Steelman Bragato Scholarship Opportunity

Seniors,

Here is an amazing scholarship opportunity for you all to check out. The California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) will award ten $2,000 scholarships to high school graduates of CCSA member schools. The scholarship is named in honor of Susan Steelman Bragato, the co-founder of the first charter school in California and the founder of the California Network of Educational Charters (which was renamed the California Charter Schools Association in 2003). Susan was one of the first people to recognize the importance of building a strong network of support among charter school leaders statewide.

Selection Criteria:

  • Scholastic record must reflect a proven ability to succeed at the college or university level
  • Student must be a graduating senior from a charter high school that is a current member of the California Charter Schools Association
  • Student must demonstrate need for financial aid

Winners will be required to provide proof of their enrollment into an accredited four-year or two-year public or private university or college.

The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. PST Friday, September 27, 2019.

Don’t Miss This Private Basketball Clinic for DV Students Tomorrow!!

Looking for something to do tomorrow during the PD day when school is not in session?

There is an exciting private Basketball Clinic for Da Vinci students scheduled for tomorrow in connection with the L.A. Street Festival hosted by the LA Times. Don’t miss this opportunity to play some ball with friends and develop your skills. The free clinic is for Da Vinci students in grades 6-12 of all skill levels.

What: Free Private Basketball Clinic for Da Vinci Students in grades 6-12
When: Friday, Sept. 20 from 12:00-2:00 PM (arrive at 11:30 with your permission slip in hand)
Where: On Douglas Street between Imperial Highway and Atwood Way — meet in the white tented area at 11:30

There will be giveaways to make the day extra special. If we obtain 150 student participants, all students will be entered into a raffle for the following prizes:

* Prize 1: Apple AirPods or Samsung Galaxy Buds

CSULB 4th Annual College Inclusion Summit

Hi Students and Parents,

California State University, Long Beach will be hosting their 4th Annual College Inclusion Summit. This is an opportunity to learn more about CSULB, receive assistance with completing FAFSA, the CSU application, and workshops for students and parents. RSVP is required to attend at csulb.edu/cis or (562) 985-5587.

Street closure – traffic delays

Good morning Designers!

The intersection at Douglas and Imperial Highway is closed off.  If you are coming from the North of campus, you will be rerouted to either Aviation or Nash. Due to a street festival happening on Douglas, this closure is likely to be in place for the rest of the week. Please plan ahead this week as there will be traffic delays.

We will need to reschedule our first SSC meeting to ensure that students, parents, and teachers are able to participate in this meeting. It is important that we have representation of various stakeholders as we all have valuable insight and feedback to provide. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
