REMINDER-Introduction to Sociology college class

Dear DaVinci parents,

If your student signed up to take the West LA College Introduction to Sociology class being held on Mondays and Wednesdays during seminar time, all students are required to complete the registration process via the attached form.  The ‘Supplemental Application for Admission of Students in Grades K-12’ was supposed to be returned with a parent signature by no later than Friday, January 15, 2016.  Several students have not turned in their forms with parent signature yet! If their forms are not completed and turned in for the class on Wednesday, January 20th, they will not be enrolled in the class and are in jeopardy of being dropped from the seminar. We want all students who want to be able to take the class to be able to do so, but the college requires this form to be completed and turned in so that students can receive college credit.

Please contact Ms. KGB at 310-725-5800 Ext. 2709 if you have any questions.

Please see link below if your student does not have their copy available.

Thanks!

SAVE THE DATE–Upcoming FAFSA Workshops for Seniors (Class of 2016)

Seniors and parents–If your student has applied to a four year college and you would like to receive any money for college (financial aid, grants, Cal Grant, etc.), you must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Why file the FAFSA?

  • Colleges require that the FAFSA is filed by mid February and for the Cal Grant it must be filed no later than March 1, 2016.
  • The earlier you file, the higher your chances of getting the most amount of financial aid and assistance.
  • Even if you think that you don’t qualify for financial assistance, many colleges will not grant ‘merit’ or ‘academic’ scholarship money until they know that you do not qualify for need based financial aid.

What to bring to the workshop:

Information needed for both Students and parents:

-Driver’s license (student and parent)

-Social Security card number if you have one (for student and parent)
-Alien registration number, if you have one
-Student 2015 income information
-Parent 2015 income information
-Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) – Students or your parents’
-Student tax and parent tax information; previous year taxes are okay for now if you don’t have 2015 tax information
-2015 bank statements
-Any records of untaxed income such as welfare benefits, Social Security benefits, or child support payments
-List of colleges you have applied to and/or will complete applications to apply

What to expect from the workshop:

Computer access to apply for and complete the FAFSA form for  financial aid
Assistance completing FAFSA and Dream Act financial aid applications (a representative from El Camino College financial aid office will be there to assist and answer any questions)

Assistance for both Spanish speaking and English speaking parents

Dates:  January 27, 2016 and February 24, 2016

Time: 5:30-7:00pm
