Summer Internship Applications – Now Open!

Applications are now open! Go to to see the available opportunities and descriptions.

Students can also go to the Resources tab to get help with their Resumes and Cover Letters. All applications are due on Friday, April 13. 

Internships last for 6 weeks in the summer and students will receive course credit for the internship.

Rock Around the Block – March 24

Wiseburn Education Foundation’s annual Family Fun Day, Rock Around the Block, will be held on March 24th at Dana Middle School. The biggest fundraising event for the year includes rides, games, silent auction, prizes, food and amazing musical performances by our students. WEF is  holding an online auction prior to Rock Around the Block. The online auction is now open and closes this Sunday, March 11th at 9pm. Click on the link here to view the extensive selections of goods and services from local merchants and create an account to register to bid.
Proceeds from the auction benefit visual and performing arts education, healthy lifestyle programs, teacher grants, STEM activities and DaVinci High school program grants. Shop and bid to help support our Wiseburn/DaVinci schools!

PSAT for 10th Graders – 3/7

This will be administered during the school day on Wednesday 3/7 from 9:00-1:00; lunch will be 1:00-1:30 for 10th graders. Please bring an approved calculator, pencil and a snack!

Ivy Prep ACT Classes – Time change, this week only!

Students – remember that IVY Prep ACT Classes are held from 1:40-3:10 pm this week during SLCs!

Important Message about Emergency Drill Planned for March 1st

As previously announced, Da Vinci Communications, Da Vinci Design and Da Vinci Science will be conducting an armed intruder drill on Thursday, March 1, 2018.  This drill is a normal part of our continued efforts each year to maintain a safe and peaceful school environment. The drill will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and will take place at an unannounced time during the day.  Teachers have been working with students during Advisory classes to prepare for this drill.  The “armed intruder” for the drill will simply be a person with a sign that states “armed intruder drill”.  During the drill, students will have a chance to practice the proper response if such a crisis were to occur. A Resource Officer from the El Segundo Police Department will be observing the drill and providing feedback on processes and procedures.  Students and staff will be debriefing the drill on the following day.

So the schools can remain informed and responsive, parents and students are encouraged to report any concerns or potential threats to the school. If you have any questions regarding this or the drill, please do not hesitate contact the front office of your child’s school. Thank you for your support in maintaining the safety of our students, staff and schools.

This summer, students can experience Adelphi University’s personalized approach to education through our Pre-College Program. The program invites rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to spend two weeks living and learning on Adelphi’s beautiful college campus in Garden City, NY.

Thank you and congratulations to the DVD Black Student Union for putting on an amazing Black History Month CD this morning alongside our leadership crew. Kudos to all who contributed and performed! What a great end to the week.

Good luck to our boys’ basketball team who is participating in the CIF Division 5A Semi-Final Game this evening. Go Wolves!

Parent Workshop on Adolescent Anxiety and Depression

Dear DVD parents,

There will be an interactive informational presentation on Tuesday March 13, 2018 at 6:00pm in the Multipurpose Room (201) to discuss signs, and symptoms of depression and anxiety in your child.  A doctoral student from Pepperdine University will be at the meeting to provide you with different skills and strategies to help you ease your child’s discomfort. The presentation will be free and all Da Vinci parents are welcome to attend!

Fellowship Program for Future Filmmakers

Hi Families,

Ghetto Film School (GFS) is an award-winning nonprofit founded in 2000 to educate, develop and celebrate the next generation of great American storytellers. We identify young talent from local communities and provide them with the access, opportunity and resources to pursue creative careers, always free of charge. THE LOS ANGELES FELLOWS PROGRAM is a visual storytelling course for high school students. Fellows receive more than 1,000 hours of immersive, college-level training, learning both the art and business of cinematic storytelling and production training while getting the preparation and guidance to advance their education at top universities. The program is free of charge for all students.

The Fellows Program is an intensive and challenging program requiring an exceptionally high level of commitment from all participants. In addition to the 30-month class schedule, students and instructors oftentimes spend weekends and evenings at Ghetto Film School when additional time is necessary. Do not apply to this program if you are bound to any prior summer engagements. Perfect attendance is mandatory. The value of your experience depends on maintaining great dedication to our program and your fellow filmmakers.

Qualifying students will participate in a 30-minute professional interview session at our McArthur Park training space at Heart of Los Angeles (2701 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 100, Los Angeles, 90057, between LaFayette Park Place & Rampart Blvd). Required Orientation & Information Session for all accepted applicants will also take place at HOLA. Each prospective student must attend this meeting accompanied by a parent or guardian.
