Week 28 Schedule and Events

Greetings DVD Families!

Here is the schedule for next week along with reminders about upcoming events.

Week 28 2021

In continuing with the priority of health and safety for all students, DVD students will be invited and expected to attend two sessions of California Healthy Youth Act (CHYA) Webinars provided by Da Vinci Schools medical professional, Dr. Emily Green. (Please see this letter from Dr. Green with more information: CHYA Parent Letter). These CHYA webinars will be held on Monday, March 22nd at 12:30 pm and Monday, March 29th at 12:30 pm. There will also be small group informational sessions throughout the week.

On Monday, 3/29, we will be holding a 10th grade supply pick-up today from 10:30 am – 12 pm at our campus, 201 N. Douglas Street in El Segundo. Students will be able to pick up supplies for Art Class. We will also have honor roll certificates available for students who were not able to stop by on the 10th. Please RSVP here.

Swim is returning for Spring Season!

Swim is returning for Spring Season!  

We are excited to get the swimmers into the pool with all proper COVID safety precautions put in place. The following items must be completed prior to participating in workouts:

Swim Info Form

Athletic Clearance

Consent Waiver

Physical Examination Form

Tryouts will be held for all new AND returning members of the swim team on:

Thursday, March 25, 3:00-5:00pm

First day of Practice will be:

Monday, March 29, 3:00-4:30pm

Tryout details

Minimum requirements to try out:

Swim 200 yards non-stop  

Swim all 4 strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle)

Comfortable diving into the water from deck or block 

Protocols and Items to Bring:

Enter the pool deck from the North end of the Da Vinci School parking lot. When on the pool deck, physical distancing will be required of everyone from different households. Only swimmers in the pool will be allowed to take off their masks. When standing on the pool deck, masks will be required. The restrooms are only open for restroom use and cannot be used for changing or showering so come to the pool deck already in your suit. Be prepared for being in and out of the water depending on the number of students trying out. The following materials are recommended/required during tryouts

-Swim suit

-Goggles

-Cap (optional but recommended if you have long hair)

-Extra clothes to stay warm

-2 towels

Reopening Plan Presentation

On Wednesday, March 17, we will be holding our monthly Coffee with Veronica and Russell. This month, the focus will be on our plans for a phased-in return to campus between April 12-June 9. We will be sharing the programs and activities that will be available to students and there will also be time for a Q&A at the end of the presentation. This meeting will be held as a webinar which will allow participants more flexibility to view the presentation.  We have moved our meeting time to 7 pm to give an opportunity for more of our families to attend. Here is the link. The presentation will be recorded and made available for those who are not able to attend the live presentation.

Este miércoles 17 de marzo, continuaremos con nuestra junta de padres que ofrecemos cada mes. Este mes, el enfoque sera en nuestros planes para un regreso gradual a la escuela entre el 12 de abril y el 9 de junio. Compartiremos los programas y actividades que estarán disponibles para los estudiantes y también habrá tiempo para una Q&A al final de la presentación. Este junta se realizara como un webinar para permitir a los participantes una mayor flexibilidad para ver la presentación. Hemos cambiado nuestra hora de reunión a las 7 pm para que mas de nuestras familias tengan la oportunidad de asistir. Aquí está el linc.  La presentación se grabará y la pondremos a disposición de aquellos que no puedan asistir a la presentación en vivo.

Exploring Careers with SpaceX!

When: Friday, March 19 11:30am-12:30pm 

(Ask your teacher if you can leave your period 8 a few minutes early)

Join us for a Lunch and Learn session with various SpaceX employees who will talk about specifics of their careers within the company.

All students are welcome to join and will be encouraged to come with questions to ask. We plan on making this an interactive session to make connections.

Week 26 – SLC Week

Greetings DVD families!

We will be hosting our Spring Student Led Conferences (SLCs) this upcoming week (March 8-11). Here is the schedule for the week. Please note that this is a special schedule and Advisory will begin at 10:30 am on Monday.

On Monday, March 15th, students may stop by the 201 campus to pick up their Honor Roll certificates between 10:30 am and 12 pm.

El Camino College Class Book Pick-Up Opportunity

This message is for the families of 11th and 12th grade students enrolled in POLI 1: Governments of the United States and California and BIO 15: Environmental Aspects of Biology through El Camino College. 

You are welcome and encouraged to pick up your books for these classes today (Monday, 3/1) between 2:30pm and 4:00pm. There will be a tent set up in the parking lot for book distribution. Please note that the textbooks for BUS 15: Introduction to Business have not yet arrived. We will notify you when they have arrived. If you are unable to pick up your books at this time, please contact Nancy Banuelos at nbanuelos@davincischools.org to arrange an alternate time.
