For those of you who were unable to stop by last week to pick up a headset with microphone for your student(s), we will be having another distribution take place this weekend at our campus on Saturday, November 7th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. No RSVP is necessary.
To best expedite this process, please bring a letter-sized paper with the following information clearly written on it: Student(s)’ school(s), Student(s)’ grade level, and Student(s)’ last and first name. The student or parent/guardian will be asked to display that paper to the Da Vinci staff member distributing the headsets to facilitate the distribution. The headsets will be distributed under a canopy which will be set-up in Lane 1 of the parking lot, the lane closest to the gym.
Additional dates and times will be scheduled in the weeks to come in an effort to continue to provide opportunities for pickup as needed. Please feel free to contact the school’s front office if you have any questions about this. Thank you!

The student headsets with microphones have finally arrived and are ready to be distributed to our students as soon as possible! In addition to several distribution events that each site has planned over the next few weeks where they will continue to distribute various instructional materials including the headsets, distribution of the headsets has been scheduled for several days this week for all DVS, DVC, DVD, Connect, Remote, Connect High and DVX students to come by on any of the following scheduled days and times. No RSVP is necessary for these days. Additional dates and times, including a possible weekend day, will be scheduled in the weeks to come in an effort to continue to provide opportunities for pickup for anyone who is unable to come by this week to get the headsets. This week, the headsets will be distributed on the following dates and times in the parking lot of the school campus located at 201 N. Douglas Street, El Segundo CA, 90045:
- Wednesday, October 28th from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Thursday, October 29th from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Friday, October 30th from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Dear DVD Families of the Class of 2021,
We are excited to share with you the details of an important way to commemorate this important year: Senior Portraits! We have partnered with Stacee Lianna Photography to provide you the opportunity to get professional cap-and-gown photos to share with family and friends.
For DVD, the photos will be taken on Saturday, December 5th and Sunday, December 6th from 10 am – 3:30 pm at the Da Vinci Campus (201 N. Douglas St.). Please sign up here for an appointment.
The appointment to take the photos is free of charge, and families will have several options to purchase digital or printed images You are able to pay for the digital images at the time of the appointment, and you are able to purchase printed packages when the photos are available online. We want each student to receive their cap and gown prior to the appointment. As such, we have scheduled a cap-and-gown pickup for Monday, November 30th. We will be providing you with more details as the date approaches, but please mark your calendars now.

Thank you for attending Student-Led Conferences this week. We appreciate you taking the time to engage with your student about their academic progress and goals. It has been a busy week at DVD. Here are a few updates:
- The Diversity Council presented thier first monthly webinar on Breaking Racism during Advisory.
- The LatinX Student Union celebrated LatinX Heritage Month (9/15-10/15) by creating a short video that was shown to all students this week.
- October grade-level newsletters are now posted on the grade-level sites (available on the Resources section of this site)
If you have not done so already, please take a few minutes to complete the parent and student surveys. A link to the surveys was sent via email on Monday.

- From Monday, October 12 – Thursday, October 15, we will host SLCs online between 12:30-3:30 pm.
- Please refer to the special schedule next week for Advisory and class times. Advisory begins at 9:30 am on Monday.
- Friday, October 16 is a Professional Development Day (no classes in session)
- Please contact the following grade-level teachers with any specific questions about SLCs.

Please join us for our first meeting of the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) on Monday, September 28, at 3:00 pm. All schools with 21 or more ELs must have an active ELAC per state law. ELAC is a parent advisory committee that is responsible for advising the principal and School Site Council on our school’s EL programs and provides feedback on our school’s plan–the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)–through recommendations regarding the needs of our EL students. Da Vinci Families, we have two important Meal Program updates to share with you:
You may pick up FREE “grab-and-go” meals for ALL children 18 & under at Dana Middle School, located at 5504 W. 135th Street in Hawthorne, from 11:30AM to 1:00PM. Da Vinci is now partnering with Wiseburn Unified to provide meals for all of our students. Free meals end on Dec. 31, 2020.
Second, please complete a meal application to ensure your child receives free or reduced price meals for the entire school year. Apply by Oct. 1 to be entered into a raffle to win one of 7 Portable Bluetooth Speakers and 7 24” Gaming Monitors, provided by our generous donors! If you have already submitted an application or have been directly certified you will automatically entered in the raffle. We are collecting meal applications from every single family regardless of whether you think you may qualify. Complete a meal application by Oct. 1 to help us maximize funding for all Da Vinci students!
