Riordan SBI Meeting Reminder

 

Ninth and tenth grade students who are a part of the Riordan SBI program—This is a reminder that your 3rd meeting of the year (one more to go) will be held this upcoming Saturday. Details are listed below:

When: Saturday, March 25, 2017

When:  9am – 1pm

Where: Room 205-Ms. Heidi Jones classroom (Da Vinci Design)

What:  Meeting/mentors

Mentors will provide a snack, but you may also want to bring a few snacks and/or lunch since the meeting will not end until 1pm.  All students who are a  part of the program are expected to attend.

All students should have received an email and should RSVP to Ms. KGB to let her know that they are attending.

 

Still time to apply to summer programs! Some deadlines quickly approaching!

Freshman,sophomores and juniors!  When you complete your college applications, how will you answer the following question:

-Please list the summer programs and activities that you have participated in during your summers of high school

There is still time to apply to programs for the summer–some of which exhibited at our Summer Enrichment Programs Fair in February and many of them offer scholarships and/or financial aid!

Many of you have been inquiring about summer program opportunities for your students. Attached are photos of the Summer Enrichment Programs Fair held on our campus last month.

We have also attached some of the flyers, applications and scholarship/financial aid deadlines for these  programs.  Many have scholarships and financial aid available and deadlines are approaching in March and April, so there’s still time left to apply!

Please have your student contact their counselor if they need additional information.

The South Bay Panhellenic Foundation is offering an opportunity for our female senior students to apply for a scholarship.  The eligibility criteria:

-Female resident of the South Bay

-Attend participating high school in South Bay area

-Have a minimum GPA of 3.5

-Plan to attend a four year college

-Financial need

The application is attached, and the deadline for receipt of all materials is March 15, 2017.

 

 

ECC Placement Test

Dear Da Vinci Design Senior Students,

On Wednesday, March 9th the El Camino College Placement Test will be held at 9 a.m. on the Da Vinci Design Campus. If you have not yet applied to El Camino College for Fall 2017, please see your college counselor to apply before the exam. In addition, if you have a computer available, please bring one to complete the test. Please make sure to arrive on time and come prepared to take the exam. We encourage you to prepare before the test using the links below:

Continuing throughout the month of February, counselors will be holding small group family meetings with sophomore families and students from their caseloads. It is expected that all sophomore families sign-up for a time and attend these meetings.

There are still time slots available–Don’t forget to sign up in order to receive important information for junior year!

In these meetings, counselors will discuss:

  • Preparing for Junior Year
  • How to build your college list
  • College entrance exams
  • Naviance Family Connection
  • Different College systems
  • Important college admission requirements
  • And much more! Individual questions will also be answered during this time.

REMINDER-Riordan SBI meeting –Saturday, January 21 from 9am-1pm

Riordan SBI Students,

This is a reminder (you should already have it on your calendars) that there is a Riordan SBI meeting THIS Saturday from 9am to 1pm.  For this meeting only, it will be held on the Communications campus. Please have your parents drop you off in the back gate near Communications and Ms. Brittany Goodacre, Communications Counselor will be there to open the gate for you.  Class will be held in Mr. Adam Eynon’s classroom–there will be signs to direct you there.

Your mentors are looking forward to seeing you.

They will providing you with some snacks, but you want to be sure to eat a good breakfast. You may also want to bring something additional of your own to eat and/or drink with you as there will be a short break time when you will be allowed to eat.

PARENTS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND TO PICK UP MATERIALS AND LEARN MORE ABOUT SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR THEIR STUDENTS!

Hello Da Vinci Design Families and Students,

On Wednesday, January 18th, Da Vinci Design will be hosting our fifth annual Summer Enrichment Fair. This fair will allow students to meet representatives from numerous organizations and colleges and learn about summer programs available to them.

Students will learn about summer programs offered by organizations and colleges throughout the country, including financial aid, career opportunities, and other details. Some programs are fee based, but all programs offer scholarships and financial assistance.The fair will host representatives from UCI-Cosmos, FIDM,The Emma Bowen Foundation, Smash at UCLA, Questbridge, The Naval Academy, California State Summer School for the Arts, Syracuse Summer Programs, Johnson and Wales University, SCI-ARC, and EXPLORE at Institute for Educational Advancement. All programs presented are either free, low cost or if a cost is associated, students can apply for scholarships and financial aid .

Students will have the opportunity to meet representatives during their Advisory period and during lunch time. During Advisory, students will be rotating to the booths throughout the period, however, if students would like extra time they can visit the representatives during their lunch time.  The goal is for students to learn and apply to summer programs in order to expand their collegiate experience and learn more about certain career fields.

This fair will be a great opportunity for students to prepare for college and beyond!
