Free College for Da Vinci Students

Hello Da Vinci Parents and Guardians,

Did you know that all graduating Da Vinci seniors have the opportunity to get free college?

Through Da Vinci Extension’s college and career pathway program (DVX), students have the opportunity to complete an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree with Southern New Hampshire University online, or earn general education college credits through UCLA Extension and El Camino College.

To apply, please submit an online application HERE and a DVX staff member will get in touch with you to schedule an appointment. Please keep in mind that the regular admission deadline is April 15, 2021.

We will be hosting family information nights on April 1st and May 6th from 5:30-6:30pm. Please use the Zoom link below:

Upcoming 9th and 10th Grade Info-session!

Dear Parents,

In case you missed the last one, the DVD counselors will be hosting another 9th and 10th grade family info session on Monday, April 12th from 3:00pm – 4:00pm! This info session will allow us to share important information on maintaining good grades, high school to career pathways, what colleges are looking for, college options and  planning for the college application process.  It’s never too early to begin preparing.

DVD Graduation Ceremony Signup

Dear Families of DVD Seniors,

The signup for you to select which of the in-person graduation ceremonies you wish to participate in is now live! You can access the signup using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040945adad2ba0f85-dvdclass

The DVD graduation ceremonies will be held at 10am, 1pm, and 4pm on Friday, June 4, and Monday, June 7, and graduates will each be able to invite 4 guests.

We can’t wait to celebrate our awesome, resilient Class of 2021!!

Week 29 Schedule and Events

Greetings DVD Families!

Here is the schedule for next week along with reminders about upcoming events.

Week 29 2021

On Monday, 3/29, we will be holding a 10th grade supply pick-up day from 10:30 am – 12 pm at our campus, 201 N. Douglas Street in El Segundo. Students will be able to pick up supplies for Art Class. We will also have honor roll certificates available for students who were not able to stop by on the 10th. Please RSVP here.

We are excited to be welcoming students back on campus beginning April 13th. Emails were sent yesterday to parents who responded to our Return to Campus Survey and requested that their child participate in on-campus activities. Several factors were considered as we scheduled students to return to campus for in-person school activities, including parent response forms, student input, and staff input. Class of 2021 Graduation Ceremony Signup

We are thrilled to be holding our Class of 2021 graduation in person in our gym in June! In order to meet current health and safety guidelines, the graduation will be held in six ceremonies (10am, 1pm, and 4pm) on Friday, June 4 and Monday, June 7. Each graduate will be able to invite 4 guests.

The signup for graduates to select which of the six ceremonies they wish to participate in will be posted via this blog at noon this Saturday (3/27). Parents of graduates, please talk with your child about their preferences between now and then so that you can select your spot as soon as possible.

GRAMMY Camp Application

Hello Students and Parents,

The deadline to apply for Grammy Camp has been extended to April 15! GRAMMY Camp® is a 5-day nonresidential summer music industry program for high school students interested in having a career in music. Students from across the country can apply to one of the many career tracks offered during our virtual 2021 session. GRAMMY Camp faculty of music professionals as well as guest industry professionals provide valuable insight to give the campers the best chance at achieving success in their chosen career. Letter to 11th Grade Families: State Testing 4/21 + 4/22

Greetings 11th Grade DVD Families,

For the 2021 Spring administration of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) students will be taking their state assigned tests remotely. This applies to both of the SBAC assessments administered during 11th grade: 1) English language arts/literacy (ELA), and 2) Mathematics. Our priority is to keep our students and educators safe by following state, county, and local health and safety requirements associated with the current pandemic.

This letter provides information about what students testing remotely need. Please see the attached letter (provided in English and in Spanish) for further details.

Week 28 2021

In continuing with the priority of health and safety for all students, DVD students will be invited and expected to attend two sessions of California Healthy Youth Act (CHYA) Webinars provided by Da Vinci Schools medical professional, Dr. Emily Green. (Please see this letter from Dr. Green with more information: CHYA Parent Letter). These CHYA webinars will be held on Monday, March 22nd at 12:30 pm and Monday, March 29th at 12:30 pm. There will also be small group informational sessions throughout the week.

Swim is returning for Spring Season!

Swim is returning for Spring Season!  

We are excited to get the swimmers into the pool with all proper COVID safety precautions put in place. The following items must be completed prior to participating in workouts:

Athletic Clearance

Consent Waiver

Physical Examination Form

Tryouts will be held for all new AND returning members of the swim team on:

Thursday, March 25, 3:00-5:00pm

First day of Practice will be:

Monday, March 29, 3:00-4:30pm

Tryout details

Minimum requirements to try out:

Swim 200 yards non-stop  

Swim all 4 strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle)

Comfortable diving into the water from deck or block 

Protocols and Items to Bring:

Enter the pool deck from the North end of the Da Vinci School parking lot. When on the pool deck, physical distancing will be required of everyone from different households. Only swimmers in the pool will be allowed to take off their masks. When standing on the pool deck, masks will be required. The restrooms are only open for restroom use and cannot be used for changing or showering so come to the pool deck already in your suit. Be prepared for being in and out of the water depending on the number of students trying out. The following materials are recommended/required during tryouts

-Swim suit

-Goggles

-Cap (optional but recommended if you have long hair)

-Extra clothes to stay warm

-2 towels
