School Site Council meeting tomorrow

Hello DVD families,
We will be hosting our second School Site Council meeting tomorrow @ 4:15 pm. It is important that we have representation of various stakeholders as we all have valuable insight and feedback to provide. Please send me an email at vrodriguez@davincischools.org if you are planning to attend.

Week 19 Schedule

Hello DVD families!

Students have signed up for seminars, which will begin next week after the holiday on Monday, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Below is the schedule for Week 19, along with reminders about upcoming events. All families are welcome to join us at our School Site Council Meeting next Wednesday at 4 pm, where we will be reviewing our Comprehensive School Safety Plan.

STEM Goes Red Program

Hello Students and Parents,

The American Heart Association’s STEM Goes Red program application is now open. This program is a free enrichment program available to female high school students at all grade levels.

STEM Goes Red participants will have the opportunity to learn about STEM with an emphasis in science and health. Through this program, participants will be provided experiences and resources such as job shadowing at hospitals and research labs, an online learning portal to learn about how STEM is applied, access and interaction to executive women leaders within the community. We will also have optional ways for the students to also engage over the summer, into the following school year and beyond.

The application is due on Wednesday Jan 30, 2020. You can apply and find more info on the attached flyer.

Scholarship Opportunity – Warner Bros. Reach Honorship

Hi Students and Parents!

Here is another scholarship opportunity for students to consider. Warner Bros. Entertainment award internship-scholarship packages, known as Honorships, to graduating high school seniors interested in the entertainment industry.

Honorships include:

  • Full-time, paid summer internships at the company each summer while in college.
  • A $5,000 college scholarship, distributed evenly over four years
  • Mentoring and networking opportunities with entertainment industry professionals

Who is eligible?

  • Be a graduating high school senior in Burbank or Los Angeles County. Animation applicants must be a high school senior in the United States.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 upon graduation
  • Plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university
  • Be passionate about a career in the business of entertainment or animation
  • Have effective verbal and written communication skills

Applications are due MONDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2020 

Scholarship Opportunity- LAX Kiwanis Club Foundation

Hello Students and Parents,

Each year, the LAX Kiwanis donate college scholarships to applicants who qualify for both merit and need from a number of local high schools. The Kiwanis raise the money for these scholarships through their Annual Golf Tournament. The scholarships range in value up to $2500 each and will be determined each year based on the applications submitted. Please fill out the application attached.

Application is due no later than March 1st.

Happy New Year! We have been preparing for the 2nd semester this week and are looking forward to welcoming back our students on Monday, January 13th.

Below is the schedule for next week. We will begin our Spring seminar sign-ups on Wednesday. Save the Date – Screening of “Autism Goes to College”

Save the Date! Through a connection made by one of our teachers at DVC, Da Vinci has obtained the rights to screen the movie “Autism Goes to College” here at Da Vinci. We would like to invite our Da Vinci and Wiseburn Families to attend this event on Wednesday, January 29th at 6pm in the Black Box Theater. After the movie, there will be a Q&A session with Director Erik Linthorst. We hope that our families will feel engaged, inspired, and connected through this event.
