Da Vinci dual enrollment college courses offered by El Camino

El Camino will be offering the following college courses during seminar:

Classes will be held at Da Vinci Communications

Who: Juniors and Seniors from DVC, DVD, and DVS

What: College courses at Da Vinci, through El Camino College. Courses meet transfer requirements for all Cal State and U.C. campuses, as well as most private colleges and universities.

Why: Get a start on your college credits! It looks great on your college applications.

Cost: Free! The state of California and Da Vinci Schools pick up the costs, including text book fees. Donations to help cover the cost of the textbooks from families that are able too are appreciated.

Hist. 112 – Hist. of the Chicano in the U.S.

● Start Date August 26 ● Mondays and Wednesday 3:00pm-4:25pm

● Course Description: History of the Chicano in the United States, 3 units, Transfer CSU, UC Recommended Preparation: eligibility for English 1A Credit. This course surveys United States history from the Chicano perspective and covers historical periods from the initial contact between European and indigenous North American societies through colonial, early national, and contemporary American historical periods. Emphasis is placed on this group’s contributions to the development of the United States. Factors that have shaped the formation of Mexican American society within the context of United States history will also be analyzed.

Comm. Studies 100 – Public Speaking

● Start Date August 27 ● Tuesday and Thursday 3:00pm-4:25pm

● Course Description: Public Speaking, 3 units Transfer CSU,UC Recommended Preparation: eligibility for English 1A Credit. In this course, students will compose, present, and evaluate original speeches. Emphasis is placed on audience analysis, topic selection, research, evidence, organization, delivery, and critical analysis of persuasive communication. Students are required to attend out-of class speaking events.
