Rising 10th Graders – Free Summer UCLA Programs

DVD Rising Sophomores,

I am excited to share two summer residential programs being offered to high performing, rising 10th graders (current 9th graders, entering the 10th grade in the fall). Both programs are FREE and will take place at UCLA.

1. UCLA Bruin Weekend: Friday July 12 8:00am- Sunday July 14 1:00pm 

Deadline: May 1, 2019

UCLA Bruin Weekend is a FREE 3-day intensive summer program. It provides rising 10th graders (current 9th graders) with information about being competitive applicants to UCLA and the UC system. This program focuses on the importance of higher education and presents students with a preview to the collegiate experience. The core program format consists of group workshops, presentations and campus tours. Students accepted to the program have an opportunity to live in the UCLA residence halls, giving students the full UCLA campus experience.

2. Summer Research Institute: July 21-26, 2019

Deadline: May 1, 2019

The UCLA Summer Research Institute is searching for current 9th graders (entering 10th in
Fall 2019) to participate in a FREE, one-week residential program on campus. This is an intensive, academic program with a focus on research and writing. Students with a 3.5 or higher GPA should apply! This program places an intensive focus on culturally and socially responsive research that examines and addresses social problems, challenges and issues within our communities.
