Great California Shake Out – 10/19

On Thursday, October 19th at 10:19 am, we will be participating in the statewide earthquake drill deemed the Great California Shake out.

Designers, week 8 is SLC week.

Monday through Thursday, we run a minimum day schedule from 9:00-1:30, with Student Led Conferences (SLCs) running from 1:45-4:00.

PSAT/Practice ACT – Wed 10/11

• 10^th and 11^th graders will be taking practice college entrance exams on Wednesday 10/11
• They will be on a different bell schedule within the 9-1:30 timeframe than 9th and 12th graders.
• Please remind students to eat breakfast, get plenty of sleep and to bring a snack and a pencil.

Fall Semi-Formal – A Night to Dismember on Friday 10/13

We invite all students to join us at the Fall Semi-Formal on Friday, October 13th from 7 PM to 10 PM at the Lawndale Community Center (14700 Burin Ave, Lawndale, CA 90260).

The theme is “A Night to Dismember” and students are encouraged to dress in red and black semi-formal attire for a night of fun with their friends.

Tickets are on sale for $15 at lunch and after school starting Monday, October 9. Thanks again to all of our parent volunteers who are helping to make this a special night for our students!

• All student outfits and costumes must meet normal school dress code policies. Students out of dress code will not be allowed to enter the dance.
• Halloween make up is ok, no masks allowed.
• All students must arrive at the dance by 8:00 PM. If a student does not arrive before 8:00 PM, they will not be permitted to enter the venue.
• All students must stay until the dance is over at 10:00 PM unless a parent/guardian arrives and personally picks up the student before 10:00 PM.
• All students must be picked up no later than 10:15 PM. There will be no student supervision after 10:15 pm.
• If students would like to bring a non-Da Vinci student as a guest, they must complete a guest application and get approval before the event.

School Site Council Interest

• Students, parents and teachers: Would you like to be part of Da Vinci Design’s School Site Council? If you would like to nominate someone, or nominate yourself, for a seat on the Da Vinci Design School Site Council, we have more open slots this year! The council meets 4 times a year in the evenings to discuss, vote on, and provide feedback on various school programs and topics.  We are looking for parent and student nominees. If you are interested in being nominated for the council or would like to nominate another individual, please fill out this FORM by Friday, October 6th.  Voting for the council will take place via the survey during Student Led Conferences week (Oct 9-13) and new members will be announced once voting has closed.

Families, next week we are holding our SLCs – Student Led Conferences, from Monday, October 9 to Thursday, October 12 from 1:45-4:00 daily. As such, students will have a minimum school day Mon-Thurs (9:00-1:30) next week.

Designers, if you were absent, or unable to have your photo taken a few weeks ago on Picture Day, make up Picture Day will be this Wednesday, October 4.

You will receive a slip tomorrow with the time you are to report to have your photo taken.
