Designers – we are in the final stretch of the school year with less than 6 weeks to go. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to testing over the past few weeks!
Week 33 is Teacher Appreciation Week!
Your teachers work incredibly hard every day: at school, before school, after school, on the weekends – you name it! Their work never stops. Let’s take a week to appreciate them and thank them for all that they do.
9th graders are going on a field trip to Olvera Street on Thursday, May 5th.
Prom is Friday, May 6th from 7-11:30 pm at the Long Beach Renaissance Hotel.
No class in session on Friday, May 6th (staff development day).
Sharefest Workday – tomorrow 4/30 at 8:00 am. You will earn service hours for attending. Thank you to all who signed up. See you tomorrow!
It’s that time of year. We have a special week to express how we feel all year long – immensely grateful for the wonderful teachers and staff at Da Vinci. If you’d like to join in the gratitude, we have a few opportunities this year.
One – We’d love to start the week off right with some breakfast treats. If you’d like to contribute (bagels, juice, etc.) please sign up on the link below and drop the items off at Da Vinci Design’s main office Monday morning for the staff to enjoy.
Two – We will be catering a lovely lunch for teachers and staff on Thursday, May 5th. If you can help with drink donations and maybe a few sweet desserts, please drop those off at the front office by Wednesday morning.
On Thursday, April 28, all DaVinci Design 10th and 11th grade students will be attending the NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors) National College Fair. There will be over 100 colleges in attendance at this college fair from all over the U.S. and it provides a great opportunity for students to talk to college admissions officers (many of whom may be the person reading and reviewing their college applications).
On April 13, we sent each sophomore and junior home with a permission slip to be returned back to school on Tuesday, April 19th. There are still several students from each grade level that have not yet returned them to the counselor’s offices. This is a required field trip for all sophomore and junior students.
If your student did not turn their permission slip in, you will receive a Blackboard message indicating that. We are allowing the students to return them to us by no later than Tuesday, April 26. If we do not have one on file, your student will not be able to attend the field trip and will remain at school for the day.
If you can not locate your student’s permission slips, I have attached additional copies.
Attached are permission slips for 10th and 11th grade students. The 10th grade field trip slips have 10th grade teacher’s names on them (Buckner, Jones, Chen, Hidalgo, etc) and the 11th grade field trip slips have 11th grade teacher’s names on them (Barclay, Hou, Hwang, Cheng, etc).
For the past two weeks, counselors held small group family meetings with junior families and students from their caseloads. Those meetings will be continuing with junior families throughout specific dates during the months of April and select dates through the month of May. » Read more
